How much does a website cost in Switzerland in 2026?
From CHF 890 to 15,000 for "a website": the gap is enormous and rarely explained. Here are the real ranges in French-speaking Switzerland, and what justifies them.
Ask three agencies in French-speaking Switzerland what a website costs and you will get CHF 890, CHF 4,000 and CHF 12,000. All three are telling the truth. They are simply not selling the same thing, and almost nobody explains the difference. Here it is.
The four price bands on the Swiss market
CHF 800 to 1,500 — the showcase site. Three to five pages, a template or a simple custom design, your details and your services. Enough to exist properly and be found by your name. This is the right band for a tradesperson, a freelancer or a small shop.
CHF 2,000 to 5,000 — the site that works. Eight to fifteen pages, a contact form, a gallery, an admin area so you can edit things yourself, often a second language. This is where a site stops being a business card and starts generating enquiries.
CHF 6,000 to 15,000 — the custom build. Bookings, an online shop, a client area, connections to your existing tools. The price is driven by the features, not by the number of pages.
Above that you are paying for a team, a project manager and a process. It can be justified. For a business of ten people on the Riviera, it rarely is.
What actually drives the price
Not the number of pages — that is the easy part. Three things drive the bill.
The copy. Writing the content of a site from a blank page takes longer than building it. Most quotes assume you provide the text. If you do not, say so early: it is often the single biggest line item.
The photographs. A well-built site with bad photos looks worse than a simple site with good ones. In hospitality and hotels, this is the deciding factor.
The features. A booking engine, a shop, a members’ area: each one multiplies the work. A form does not.
The CHF 890 trap
Very low prices are real, but they usually mean a shared template, no copy work, no photography and a compulsory monthly subscription that carries the actual margin. Read what happens if you leave: on many of these offers, the site is not yours and does not follow you.
Ask two questions before signing: do I own the site and the domain name, and what does it cost to leave? A clear answer to both matters more than the headline price.
What it costs with us
We work with fixed prices. The Showcase pack is CHF 1,000: up to three pages, a design drawn for you, launch included. The Complete pack is CHF 2,500: up to eight pages, a form, a gallery, an English version and an admin area. Anything beyond that is quoted, with a reference rate of CHF 100 per hour.
Hosting and upkeep are separate, from CHF 12.50 a month. We keep them apart deliberately: the subscription should never be the place where the real price hides.
And afterwards
Budget for the site to live. A page that has not moved in three years reads as a closed business. Whether you update it yourself or pay for it, plan for it — that is what separates a site that earns its keep from one that was simply bought.
