Equinox, a series of eight posters on the balance between light and shadow: each moment of the solar cycle becomes a composition of shapes.
Equinox is a series of eight posters. Each one stands for a moment in the solar cycle (Midnight, Aurora, Vernal, Zenith, Solstice, Harvest…) and expresses it with a few geometric shapes and a single play of light.
The starting point
The equinoxes are the two days of the year when day and night last the same. The idea was to show that balance without illustrating it literally: no sun, no moon, just light and shadow on volumes.
The shapes
Spheres, cones, cubes, polyhedra, all matte black on white. One shape balanced on another, a lengthening shadow: each poster tells its moment with three elements at most.
The layout
A strict grid, a single grotesque for all the text, a large collection number. The typography stays in the background so the volumes carry the poster.
