Blondel Display Font
Blondel, a display typeface with real character: expressive letterforms made for headlines and identities that want to stand out.
Blondel is a display typeface I drew myself: a high-contrast serif with curves that take up room, for brands where a single word has to be enough.
The starting point
A lot of branding work ends up on the same fifteen typefaces. Drawing your own means having a voice nobody else uses, and understanding from the inside how a letter is built.
The letters
Heavy stems, very thin hairlines, generous curves. Blondel is not made for setting a paragraph: it is made for a name on a bottle, a sign or a label.
Put to the test
To check it holds up, I set it on very different items: a perfume bottle, cans, an office sign, a cream jar, a denim label, an engraved box. The typeface can be downloaded for free from the project's Behance page.
